Keto Chili with Bacon
It has been so cold this winter here in Ohio and we are looking for something to warm us up. We love chili around our house, so this is a big hit! You can use whatever meat you want, I have used ground lamb and goat. You could also use ground buffalo or turkey, get creative. So put on a big pot of chili and warm up with this great Keto friendly recipe!
5 servings = 528 calories per serving
7 g total carbs
5 g net carbs
50 g protein
37 g fat
2 lbs ground beef
3/4 med white onion, chopped
1 small green pepper, chopped
1 med Roma tomato, chopped
5 slices bacon, finely chopped, uncooked
1 T chili powder
2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp pink salt
1 tsp oregano
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 med jalapeno peppers, finely chopped
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 cups chicken/beef stock
- Put bacon in a large dutch oven, cook until almost done (not crispy).
- Add ground beef and allow to cook until brown.
- Add all ingredients including the stock. Allow to simmer 1-3 hours. The longer it goes, the better it tastes. If you don’t have stock on hand, water will be fine.
- Near the end of cooking, remove the lid and allow to cook uncovered until most of the liquid evaporates. Enjoy!!
I like to add shredded cheese and/or some sour cream on top. The next time I make it, my husband wants me to add some extra veggies, so maybe some celery would be good. This is a great recipe to have on hand for quick lunches.
